2013 “Coming Soon” Trailer Breakdown
It’s time to take an in-depth look at the latest Doctor Who trailer for the remaining eight episodes of Series 7.
This article may contain some mild spoilers from filming.
Doctor: “Ha ha! Miss me?”
The costume is the one he wears in Mark Gatiss’ The Crimson Horror
“Who the hell are you?”
Guest star Liam Cunningham in Mark Gatiss’ submarine under-siege episode.
Seems like this is a corridor from Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS.
Something attacks the Doctor and crew in Gatiss’ submarine story.
Cyber-Doctor! Undoubtedly from Neil Gaiman’s episode, The Last Cyberman…
…Ditto. Notice the similarities to the design of some of the sets on Tomb of the Cybermen.
During filming, monks were spotted in Steven Moffat’s opening episode, rumoured title The Bells of Saint John. We also know that when the Doctor finds Clara in the opener, he is in monk clothing. The monk behind is guest star Sean Knopp, who is playing a character called John. Hmm.
“I’m the Doctor. I’m an alien from outer space. I’m a thousand-years-old, I’ve got two hearts, and I can’t fly a plane!”
As we then see in a scene with the Doctor on a plane…
…The pilot and co-pilot are out cold and they’re crashing. Rumours point to this scene also being in the opener.
This, most likely, is from Neil Cross’ ghost story. More on that later.
This is from Steven Moffat’s “urban thriller” opener…
…Ditto. Some of the episode takes place in London. Filming revealed that the Doctor rides out of the TARDIS on his motorcycle.
An obligatory running scene from Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS.
Doctor: “Running away with a spaceman in a box; anything could happen to you.”
Clara: “That’s what I’m counting on.”
Doctor: “Where do you want to go, eh?
Doctor: “What do you want to see?”
This seems to be from Mark Gatiss’ submarine under-siege episode, just before we arrive at the sub, no doubt. Also icebergs? A clue to the rumoured returning Ice Warriors. More on that later…
Given the large variety of aliens, this most likely is Neil Cross’ alien planet episode.
Dougray Scott plays a professor in Neil Cross’ ghost story. This machine presumably reveals the ghosts. It seems to fit with the later scene that shows an evil entity appearing.
Clara joins a resistance group in The Last Cyberman. Tamzin Outhwaite (Captain Alice) is on the left and Warwick Davis (Porridge) is on the right.
