Notes

These episodes take place a year after the episode ‘Rose’ meaning it must be March 2006.

Matt Baker, the ‘Blue Peter’ presenter plays himself.

Andrew Marr, the TV journalist plays himself.

Penelope Wilton makes her first appearance as Harriet Jones in these episodes. She will reprise the role in ‘The Christmas Invasion’.

UNIT are seen briefly in these episodes. UNIT featured heavily in the classic Doctor Who series.

UNIT’s website, www.unit.org.uk actually exists. This is the second mock site the BBC launched to coincide with this series.

"Massive weapons of destruction" and "45 seconds to launch" is actually a dig at the events leading to the 2003 invasion of Iraq. A dossier apparently proved that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction that could be launched in 45 minutes.

The Doctor tells Rose he is 900 years old.

A young boy spray-paints the graffiti ‘BAD WOLF’ on the side of the TARDIS.

The Cardiff Royal Infirmary was used as the London Albion Hospital. Albion hospital is seen again in ‘The Empty Child’ and ‘The Doctor Dances’.

‘Aliens of London features the first cliffhanger of the series, of which the classic Doctor Who series was well known for.

The BBC received several complaints regarding the cliffhanger as it lead straight into a ‘next week’ preview instantly revealing the characters’ fate. As a result the BBC wisely placed the ‘next week’ preview after the end credits in the next cliffhanger episode, ‘The Empty Child.’
