Rumour: 13th Doctor Has Been Cast
The source originates from the Mirror again, who this time state:
The Mirror Online has been told by a show insider who the new man – or woman – to take on the job will be.
Bookies had been offering odds on Tilda Swinton and Olivia Colman to become the first female Doctor.
But the Mirror understands that the next actor to become a Time Lord is Kris Marshall.
And the new Doctor is set to join the show during the 10th series, rather than in the Christmas special.
Our source revealed: “Kris Marshall has already joined the cast and will regenerate at the end of this series, not in the Christmas special. They won’t risk a woman Doctor. They want a David Tennant type.”
Kris’s representatives have refused to comment.
As many of you will remember, Marshall has been rumoured since it was made public he was quitting BBC’s “Death In Paradise” curiously close to Capaldi announcing his own exit from Doctor Who.
Not long after, bookmakers suspended betting on Marshall after seeing a sudden spike in bets. Possibly indicating someone had insider knowledge.
Marshall later responded to the rumours. At the time he said he was “very flattered to be considered by the good public” as the next Doctor, before adding “I wouldn’t put any money on it yet.”
Whether anything has changed remains to be seen. Until the BBC make an official announcement, this is not confirmed.
