Rumour: Pearl Mackie Leaving After Series 10
Don’t get too attached to new companion Bill Potts. If rumours are to be believed, she might only be a one-series wonder.
Pearl Mackie will reportedly leave with Peter Capaldi and Steven Moffat this Christmas.
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard such news. Back in November of last year, the BBC were said to be aiming for a “clean slate” for Chris Chibnall’s new era with Series 11.
More from The Sun:
NEW Doctor Who sidekick Pearl Mackie is being axed before she has even been on screen.
The actress, 29, will leave after just one series when Time Lord Peter Capaldi goes at Christmas.
It is thought to have been a joint decision of the BBC and Broadchurch writer Chris Chibnall, who replaces current boss Steven Moffat after this series.
She will join the Doctor and Matt Lucas, who is back as Nardole, when the series starts in a fortnight. But a source said: “Bosses have decided to have a completely fresh start.
Peter has already confirmed his exit and the rest of the team’s days are numbered too.
“It’s yet to be formally decided but it makes sense to give Chris his own choice of actor to play the Doctor and his companion.”
A BBC spokesperson said: “We never reveal the fate of individual characters on the show; viewers will have to tune in to find out. We are still filming Series 10 and no casting decisions have yet been made on Series 11.”
A spokesman for Pearl declined to comment.
