Series 8 When?

Is there going to be another lengthy wait for Series 8? It would seem likely.

Jenna-Louise Coleman recently confirmed

she would be back for Series 8, though there were no details on when we can expect to see it. Spring 2014 seemed like the earliest, if not entirely likely given that this year’s Christmas special doesn’t start filming until September 2013.

Now Coleman has suggested another long break: “There could be a big gap ­until the next series,” she said.

“I think the writer Steven Moffat is off doing Sherlock and there’ll be a lot of preparation for the 50th anniversary special.”

In February Moffat stated that planning on Series 8 had begun. However, it could be his last series.

This week he told EW, the show is “knackering work” and that he is “statistically nearer the end than the beginning” of his time on the show. “I just take it a year at a time. I think the feeling of it being done for you is quite unambiguous when it suddenly arrives.”
