Broken up roughly into three main parts this specially commissioned extra features a whole collection of monsters from the episode including Daleks, Cybermen, Autons, Sontarans, Judoon, Hoix, Silurians, Sycorax, Roboforms, Uvodni, Weevils, and a Blowfish as well as Amy’s confrontation with the headless Cyberman and Rory the Auton.”

The DVD and Blu-ray are out now.

For those that can wait a little longer, the Complete Series 5 Boxset is released in November.

It looks as though we won’t have to wait that long to get our hands on Murray Gold’s excellent music to the fifth series.

Amazon UK are now listing the Series 5 soundtrack for release on November 8th, 2010. That, coincidentally, just happens to be the same day of release for the Fifth Series Boxset.

No artwork or tracklistings are available yet, but we only have to look back to the 2010 Doctor Who Proms for a good idea of what to expect.

The Doctor Who: Series 5 Original TV Soundtrack is currently available to pre-order for £11.99.

If you’ve been getting the Doctor Who Volumes (rather than waiting for the boxset), you can continue your collection today with the UK DVD and Blu-ray release of Series 5: Volume 3.

Volume 3 contains episodes 7-9 of Series 5 comprising; Amy’s Choice; The Hungry Earth and Cold Blood.

Extras include the Monster Files – “A behind the scenes look at the monsters from the collection including an up close look at the Silurians.”

The DVD and Blu-ray are out now.

The fourth and final volume will be released in September.

Details and draft artwork for the UK DVD/Blu-ray release of Doctor Who: The Complete Fifth Series have been announced.

The six-disc collection will include all 13 episodes from Series 5 and extras including:

  • Additional scenes: Meanwhile in the TARDIS – additional scenes, written by Steven Moffat and featuring Matt Smith & Karen Gillan, telling the story of what happens between episodes. Why was Amy floating in Space above Starship UK, and what happened after ‘that’ kiss between the Doctor and Amy? – Exclusive to DVD.
  • Monster Files – The Monster Files will get under the skin and inside the minds of the latest Doctor’s most challenging opponents. With previously unseen footage and exclusive comments from cast and crew, the Monster Files take fans old and new even further behind enemy lines.

  • BBC Trails and Promos to Series 5

The boxset will come in two flavours. The Limited Edition features special ‘cracked’ artwork seen below to the left.

Both are released 8th November 2010, RRP £69.99 (DVD) and £79.99 (Blu-Ray). Amazon are currently taking pre-orders cheaper though at £52.49 (DVD) and £59.99 (Blu-ray). Time to start saving!

Out today, continue your Doctor Who collection with the UK DVD and Blu-ray release of Series 5, Volume 2.

Volume 2 contains episodes 4-6 of Series 5 comprising; The Time of Angels; Flesh and Stone; and The Vampires of Venice.

Extras include the exclusive Monster Files – “A behind the scenes look at the monsters from the collection including an up close look at the terrifying Weeping Angels – whatever you do don’t blink.”

The DVD and Blu-ray are out now.

Volume 3 will follow in August and Volume 4 in September. A complete box set is expected later in the year.

The fifth series brought some major changes to Doctor Who as we waved goodbye to Russell T Davies and David Tennant’s era. We had two new main stars in Matt Smith and Karen Gillan; a new production team headed up by Steven Moffat; a new intro and remixed theme; a new look TARDIS both inside and out; redesigned Silurians; and the Daleks also received a colourful new makeover. Expectations were high, so the question is, did it live up to them and if not, what were your biggest disappointments?

Doctor Who will return at Christmas and a 13-part sixth series will follow in 2011, but in the meantime what did you think of the final episode? Was it a satisfying conclusion to The Pandorica Opens? We’ve been speculating all series about how the ‘Silence Will Fall‘ story would play out. Did the actual revelations deliver or were you disappointed?
