American actor Michael McShane will be appearing in Series 7 of Doctor Who.
McShane (pictured right during the weekend filming) will be playing a villain in the fifth episode, which also features the Weeping Angels.
He announced his involvement on Twitter earlier this month: “Getting ready to leave for Cardiff to be a villain in Dr.Who!! YEEESSSS!!!”
He teased: “Spoiler Alert for Dr Who; in my episode the Doctor finds he’s got a;:/;;zapppppp GACK. sizzle, hissssss……”
He recently added: “Most fantastic time doing Doctor Who; best cast and crew I’ve been with in a while! Long live Gallifrey…”
In other casting news, it has now been confirmed via her CV that Riann Steele is playing Egyptian Queen Nefertiti in the second episode. We caught a few glimpses of her in the first trailer (below).
We’ve also received several emails from readers from citing some major casting from the IMDB’s Doctor Who pages. However, that site can be edited by anyone, so it is not a reliable source.

With Amy and Rory leaving Doctor Who this year, did Steven Moffat ever consider leaving the Doctor companionless instead of bringing another young female into his life, just for a change?
“I thought about the Doctor traveling on his own and it always faintly depresses me,” he told BBCA. “I’m not sure what he does on his own but I don’t think it would be healthy. He’s far too old and he’s seen too much.”
Moffat goes on to explain his thoughts on the importance of the companion to the show: “The story of Doctor Who is always the story of the companion, It’s always their story.
“It was Rose Tyler’s story, it’s Amy Pond’s story. The story of the time they knew the Doctor and how that began; how it developed and how it ended.
“The story begins again, not so much with the new Doctor, but with the new companion. It is their story. The Doctor’s the hero, but they’re the main character.”
What do you think? Is Moffat right?

The Doctor Who team arrived in New York for filming on the fifth episode of Series 7 this week. And yes, if the title wasn’t a big enough clue, River Song is expected to return for some of the action.
It’s hardly surprising news. It would have been a little strange if Amy and Rory left without some sort of farewell to their daughter in their final episode.
A casting call has gone out looking for a photo double of Alex Kingston, but Kingston herself will reportedly be on the set for scenes very soon. The double is also required to drive.
Of course River already has a bit of a history in New York, having regenerated as a little girl at the end of Day of the Moon. Just another coincidence?
Thanks to Danielle.
