A Good Man Goes to War Round-Up

Here’s a round-up of what we know about A Good Man Goes to War, so far.

Official Synopsis:

Amy Pond has been kidnapped and the Doctor is raising an army to rescue her. But as he and Rory race across galaxies, calling in long-held debts and solemnly given promises, his enemies are laying a carefully concealed trap. In her cell in Stormcage, River Song sadly acknowledges that the time has come at last – today will mark the Battle of Demons Run and the Doctor’s darkest hour. Both sides will make their sacrifices and River Song must finally reveal her most closely guarded secret to the Doctor.

Doctor Who Magazine Synopsis:

Hanging among the stars in the far distant future, an asteroid – and a bleak grey fortress built into the misshapen rock. This is Demons Run. In a prison hospital, Amy Pond kisses her one month old daughter goodbye. “Wherever they take you, however scared you are,” she tells her, “I promise you, you will never be alone.”

Twenty thousand light years away, the Doctor has a message for the Twelfth Cyber Legion. The Last Centurion has a question that consumes his every waking moment.

And at Stormcage Containment Facility, in the fifty second century, River Song is preparing to escape for what may be the very the last time…

In the prequel, Dorium supplied hooded monks with a Judoon’s brain containing security software
The hooded monks plan to use this to imprison a child
Most of the story takes place on an asteroid fortress called Demons Run
Part of it is set in Jack the Ripper’s London
Amy gives birth to a baby and calls it Melody
Madame Kovarian (Frances Barber) plans to use the child as a weapon
The Silurians and The Sontarans are fighting on the Doctor’s side
The Cybermen are also on the Doctor’s side under Roman Rory’s command
There is a character called Jenny (Catrin Stewart). It is not yet known if she is the Doctor’s daughter
Madame Vastra (Neve McIntosh) is a samurai Silurian and appears to be linked to Jenny
Captain Avery (Hugh Bonneville) and his son will appear again according to the cast list
Colonel Manton (Danny Sapani) leads an army of Clerics against the Doctor
Steven Moffat says we will see an angry, unpleasant side to the Doctor
Moffat also says he will bring an end to the Doctor’s fame across the Whoniverse
Rory is dressed like a Roman because the Doctor told him to
River Song’s true identity is revealed in the episode’s final moments
A throwaway line from last series becomes a major plot device
Dorium becomes a bit of a hero
Lorna Bucket is a girl on a mission with no lengths to which she will not go
Colonel Manton is a powerful leader and a fearsome soldier who is obsessed with killing the Doctor
Manton unveils the headless monks
There is a big battle scene at the end
