Neil Cross has penned an unspecified episode to be broadcast in 2013. His episode is the one shooting now, not the Christmas special (which will now film later in the year).
Cross is probably best known for his TV work on spy drama Spooks, and recent crime thriller hit Luther.
On Cross’ website, he says he is a big fan of Doctor Who: “David Tenant’s Dr Who is the best television show in the world – and I should know, I watch more TV than could possibly be good for me.”
Update: Cross has since updated his website: “[This] was written while the 10th Doctor was still at the TARDIS console. All sentient beings are of course aware that Matt Smith’s Doctor is even better … something I once would not have believed possible.”
Cross’ episode is directed by Jamie Payne. Payne is also new to Who, but has worked on number of shows including Primeval, Ashes to Ashes, and more recently, Call the Midwife.
