Series 8 Launch Trailer Breakdown
Clara looks like she’s in a classroom here. Given the Coal Hill setting of episode 6, this seems a likely fit.
A glimpse of Coal Hill teacher and new recurring character Danny Pink (Samuel Anderson). He’s the new Rory, which can only mean he probably dies here.
Soldiers and they aren’t UNIT. And more explosions. We’re going to guess either episode 5 or 6.
Hard to tell from this screengrab but you can just about make out the T-rex you see seconds later on the Victorian era streets near Big Ben. Given we know the opener takes place in in that time, this must be the opener.
The Doctor continues his dialogue from earlier: “…I’ve made many mistakes…”
“It’s about time I did something about that.”
What mistakes exactly? And what will he do to correct them?
Clara: “Where are we going?”
This shot gives us a better look at those fancy bookshelves.
Doctor: “Into Darkness.”
Star Trek crossover confirmed. Someone call Benedict Cumberbatch!
“Here we go again.”
It’s Madame Vastra and just to the right of the screen, Strax. Therefore this must be the opening episode.
Clara falling down a strange tunnel of some kind. Also notice the device on her wrist. It it the same nano-bracelet from Asylum of the Daleks?
Finally, that remastered version of Invasion of the Dinosaurs you’ve been waiting for.
As the trailer earlier revealed, this T-Rex is on a rampage in Victorian London.
A Dalek saucer fires on an escaping ship from episode 2.
As filming revealed, this is one of the Robot knights from episode 3, Robots of Sherwood.
One of the first glimpses we saw of Capaldi in his pjs from filming. This scene is from the opener. And that is not a real horse.
Who is Clara talking to here? Clara’s hair matches up with the earlier scene of her turning around looking creeped out. Also notice the insignia on Clara’s outfit.
The Twelfth Doctor looks like he’s being blown out of an airlock. Hard to pin point this one.
Daleks! Why of course. The question is, will they actually exterminate someone?
Like with an earlier shot, this scene appears to have been lifted from existing episodes. In this case it’s The Doctor’s Wife. A budget saving exercise, or is there more to it?
The Doctor: “Clara, tell me am I a good man?”
Clara: “I don’t know.”
Well that’s reassuring.
And there we have it, with some slightly choppy editing this trailer draws to a close. Aside from that, it’s looking like a promising debut series for Capaldi! Now off to watch it for the 42nd time…
