John Hurt Cancer in Remission

UPDATE: Earlier reports had suggested John Hurt had been given the ‘all-clear’. However his agent spoke to to BBC Radio Norfolk stating [via]: “Sir John has been given very good news by his oncologist but it falls short of an all-clear. Nonetheless, it’s very good news.”

Sir John Hurt has said he has been given the all-clear from cancer by doctors.

The War Doctor actor was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer earlier this year.

Speaking yesterday evening at the Man Booker Prize ceremony in London, Hurt said: “I had a final scan and it’s all gone brilliantly.

“I had the final scan yesterday [Monday] and I saw my oncologist this morning [Tuesday].

“I am overjoyed, I am thrilled. It all looks great for the future, it’s fantastic.”
