Casting News Suggests A Major Character Exit in Series 12
Casting news for an upcoming American TV show indicates Doctor Who may lose one of its current companions in the near future. Specifically Tosin Cole who, of course, plays Ryan.
The news comes via Deadline who reported:
Tosin Cole (Doctor Who, Star Wars: The Force Awakens) is set as the lead opposite Courtney B. Vance in AMC’s upcoming courtroom drama series 61st Street from BAFTA-winner Peter Moffat (The Night Of).
Bentley Green (Snowfall) also has been cast in a key role in the series executive produced by Michael B. Jordan and Alana Mayo of Outlier Society and produced by AMC Studios.
61st Street has been ordered as a two-season television event with eight episodes per season. It is slated to debut in 2021.
Doctor Who filming has traditionally taken between nine and ten months for each new series. It therefore seems very unlikely Cole could realistically fit in filming of both shows in a lead role. Further, Series 12 trailers have hinted at Ryan leaving the TARDIS life behind…
