YOUR Verdict on “Revolution of the Daleks” – Impure
It’s time to reveal DWTV’s poll results for the 2021 New Year’s special, “Revolution of the Daleks”, as voted for by you following broadcast.
“Revolution of the Daleks”: Score Breakdown
As always, we asked you to rate the episode on a scale from 1 to 10. We then took an average.
- A few thousand of you voted, and the average score was 5.98. According to the Doctor Who TV score guide, this indicates the episode was generally considered to be just shy of “above average”.
- This result leaves “Revolution of the Daleks” as the 22nd lowest rated episode of the whole revival (according to the DWTV ranking polls taken in 2018). More specifically, it is situated between “Nightmare in Silver” (5.99) and “The Long Game” (5.97).
- “Revolution of the Daleks” actually places lower than the last Dalek special “Resolution” (6.54). The score also makes it the third lowest of all revival Dalek stories, only narrowly surpassing “Victory of the Daleks,” and “Daleks in Manhattan”/ “Evolution of the Daleks”.
- The standard deviation – which is our measure for how divisive an episode is – was 2.68. We’re now 22 episodes in and the Chibnall era episodes continue to exhibit extremely high divisiveness, with voting all over the shop. This is not quite the worst we’ve seen though, as it’s only the 9th most divisive of his era thus far.
- Overall: After the “record-breaking” performance of “The Timeless Children”, this is a marginal improvement. It’s certainly not a good result, but for the Chibnall era some improvement is better than none.
