A Possible Hint that More New Who Doctors Could Be in the 60th
“The Power of the Doctor” saw several classic era cameos, but none of the revival era Doctors (unless you count Tennant’s 14th Doctor). Now Chris Chibnall has explained why.
The former showrunner told the Mirror: “I didn’t want to tread on anything that might be happening in future, so [the classic Doctors] felt the right ones.”
This could suggest RTD might have had plans for other New Who Doctors in the 60th (see this article for some predictions of who is most likely).
Chibnall further explained: “I wanted it to be classic Doctors and there’s not a huge amount of those. It was a bit of an instinct, and we asked them, and they said yes.”
“They were all really keen. We got incredible messages back. To see those people back on the set was an incredible thing.”
As for Tom Baker, who was suspiciously absent, Chibnall said: “We asked Tom, but sadly he could not do it. He was not available. Such a shame.”
