BBC Halts Filming on Drama Shows, Series 13 To Be Delayed?
In a statement, the corporation said: “In light of the spread of Covid-19, after much consideration, it has been decided that filming on all BBC Studios continuing dramas will be postponed until further notice. The decision was made after the latest Government update.
“We will continue to follow the latest news and advice from the World Health Organisation and Public Health England.”
The impact on Doctor Who though is currently unclear though. Series 13 wasn’t due to begin filming until September 2020, meaning it could still be on track if the outbreak is contained by then. However, if pre-production work is impacted before September, a delay might still be likely. In a worst-case scenario, filming could shift to 2021 leading to a possible early 2022 broadcast.
If there’s one consolation, the upcoming festive special, “Revolution of the Daleks” has already been filmed, so broadcast of that should be unaltered.
