Doctor Who at the Proms 2013 Tonight
Later this evening, Doctor Who makes a long-awaited return to the Proms at the Royal Albert Hall to celebrate the 50th anniversary year.
Saturday’s performance begins Saturday at 7.30pm and is due to finish at approximately 9.45pm.
For fans who are unable to attend, fret not, as the whole event can be listened to live via the Radio 3 iPlayer here. The event is also being filmed for broadcast on BBC1 later in the year.
Doctor Who returns to the Proms to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the popular BBC series. As well as showcasing Murray Gold’s music from the past eight years, the concert also journeys back to the early days of Doctor Who and the groundbreaking work of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop. Featuring special guests from the series, big screens and a host of monsters ready to invade the Royal Albert Hall, this is not the year to be exterminated!
Murray Gold will be debuting a special new track called ‘Song for 50,’ so for fans of his music, it’s a must!
There’s also a rumour from author Stephen Hunt suggesting the 12th Doctor could be revealed during the event. Given the lack of corroboration anywhere else, and the fact the production team are still saying the role is yet to be cast, we advise you treat with caution.
