Quotes
The Doctor – “I thought there’d be happy-slapping hoodies. Happy-slapping hoodies with ASBOs. Happy-slapping hoodies with ASBOs and ringtones. ”
Sarah Jane: “You can tell you’re getting older, you’re assistants are getting younger”
Mickey – “The missus and the ex – welcome to every man’s worst nightmare”
The Doctor: “They’re Krillitanes.”
Rose: “Is that bad? ”
The Doctor: “Very. Think of how bad things could possibly be, and add another suitcase full of bad.”
Sarah Jane: “The Doctor likes traveling with an entourage. Sometimes they’re human, sometimes they’re aliens and sometimes they’re tin dogs.”
Sarah Jane: “What about you? Where do you fit in the picture?”
Mickey: “Me? I’m their man in Havana. I’m their technical support. I’m…Oh my god. I’m the tin dog!”
Rose: “But Sarah Jane…you were that close to her once and now…you never even mention her. Why not?”
The Doctor: “I don’t age. I regenerate. But humans decay. You wither and you die. Imagine watching that happen to someone you…”
Rose: “What, Doctor?”
The Doctor: “You can spend the rest of your life with me. But I can’t spend the rest of mine with you. I have to live on. Alone. That’s the curse of the Time Lords.”
Doctor: “Mickey – surveillance. I want you outside. ”
Mickey: “Just stand outside? ”
Sarah Jane: “Here, take these – you can keep K9 company.”
Doctor: “Don’t forget to leave the window open a crack. ”
Mickey: “But he’s metal!”
Doctor: “I didn’t mean for him.”
Mr Finch – “Forget the shooty dog thing!”
Mr Finch – “You bad Dog”
K9 – “Affirmitive”
The Doctor -“Goodbye…My Sarah Jane”
Notes
This episode takes place in 2007.
K9 and Sarah Jane appeared with the fourth Doctor, Tom Baker in the classic series.
Mickey becomes a companion of The Doctor at the end of this episode.
This story was originally going to take place at an army base, but Russell T. Davies suggested changing it to a school.
Anthony Stewart Head actually auditioned to play The Doctor in the 1996 TV Movie.
Anthony Stewart Head’s character was originally going to be called Hector Finch but it was changed because a Headmaster with that name actually exists.
The line where Sarah Jane says “everything has its’ time and everything ends” is almost exactly the same as what ninth Doctor said in ‘The End of the World’.
In the scene where Mickey is on the phone to Rose, the words “TORCHWOOD ACCESS DENIED” flash across his computer screen.
The BBC launched Deffry Vale High School to coincide with this episode.
