Happy New Year 2014!
Happy Who Year!
The clock has just struck midnight in the UK and 2014 has officially arrived!
2013 was a historic year for Doctor Who. It all kicked off with the conclusion of Series 7 followed by that jaw dropping cliffhanger revealing John Hurt to be a forgotten incarnation of the Doctor. We then had all the build-up to the biggest event in Doctor Who history – the 50th anniversary. The BBC certainly went all out with the sheer number of events and programmes including the fabulous An Adventure in Space and Time.
Paul McGann then made his surprise return in the The Night of the Doctor, before it all culminated with the grand special itself, The Day of the Doctor. A story that proved to be a very fitting way to celebrate such a landmark. And who can forget that appearance from the legendary Tom Baker. But if the 50th wasn’t enough, we then had to say a tearful goodbye to Matt Smith in The Time of the Doctor.
Of course Doctor Who embraces change like no other show and 2014 marks the beginning of a new era as we prepare for Peter Capaldi’s debut series in the autumn. It’s another long wait (which we’re all used to), but in the meantime we’re sure to get some early glimpses through filming which begins next week.
Lastly, Doctor Who TV would just like to thank all our readers and contributors for helping to make 2013 the biggest year on record for the site. It’s been great to see the community grow so much and we look forward to seeing it continue in 2014.
