Happy New Year 2012!
Happy new year and welcome to 2012!
Doctor Who TV to thank all our readers for helping make 2011 another big year for the site. It’s been great to see the community grow so much and we look forward to seeing it continue in 2012.
The Whoniverse certainly went through some changes in 2011. Doctor Who sixth series was split in half and broadcast in two chunks, it had a heavier emphasis on the story arc and we finally found out River Song’s real identity. In summer, Torchwood returned after a two-year break and drew mixed reactions. And then, after Doctor Who concluded, The Sarah Jane Adventures, sadly, ended due to the untimely passing of Elisabeth Sladen.
Doctor Who has never shied away from change, though, and as we approach Matt Smith’s third year as the Doctor, there’s more to come in 2012. The show makes the move from its traditional Easter slot, to the autumn. We also prepare to say goodbye to companions Amy and Rory with Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill both leaving during Series 7. Of course, that means we welcome a new TARDIS traveller. With filming set to begin next month, we’re sure it won’t be too far into the year before we find out just who that might be.
Onwards!
