New Subsidiary Could Hint at A Marvel-Style Whoniverse from Russell T Davies
Eagle-eyed Twitter users have spotted an incorporation filing for a new production subsidiary called “Whoniverse1 Ltd”.
The filing is from Bad Wolf, the new production home of Doctor Who once Chibnall departs.
This subsidiary could suggest a new spin-off, or perhaps a whole Marvel-style universe of Doctor Who shows.
Russell T Davies is of course no stranger to the idea, having created a Whoniverse already during his first era (though the banner name was not officially recognised at the time).
Lest we forget, The Sarah Jane Adventures and Torchwood used to run alongside Doctor Who. Not to mention other shows like Doctor Who Confidential and Totally Doctor Who. It’s just one of the reasons Doctor Who became such a huge juggernaut under RTDs original watch.
Davies was ahead of the times, as he acknowledged in an interview earlier this year: “I was in the middle of running an empire,” Davies told Waitrose Weekend (via). “And my god I did that 10 years too soon, didn’t I?”
He added: “There should be a Doctor Who channel now. You look at those Disney announcements, of all those new Star Wars and Marvel shows, you think, we should be sitting here announcing The Nyssa Adventures or The Return of Donna Noble, and you should have the Tenth and Eleventh Doctors together in a 10-part series. Genuinely.”
Certainly food for thought!
