As many of you will remember, the 2006 Doctor Who episode Fear Her featured a scene towards the end in which David Tennant’s Doctor carries the Olympic torch and lights the flame.

Well, the episode almost got it right!

The BBC has today announced that Matt Smith will be participating in the Torch Relay this weekend.

Smith will be bearing the torch in Cardiff bright and early on Saturday morning as it makes its way to Swansea.

Smith said: “To carry the Torch is an honour, one I thought I’d never get, I’m very excited!”

The BBC provides a live feed of the relay, so if you want to catch Matt, tune in around 6.20am on the Torch Relay site.
