YOUR Verdict on “Demons of the Punjab”

It’s time to reveal DWTV’s poll results for the sixth episode of Series 11, “Demons of the Punjab”, as voted for by you over the last week or so.

“Demons of the Punjab”: Stat Breakdown

As always, we asked you to rate the episode on a scale from 1 to 10. We then took an average.

• A few thousand of you voted, and the average score was 6.85. According to the Doctor Who TV score guide, this indicates the episode was generally considered to be in the range of “Above Average” to “Good”, leaning more towards the latter. After last week’s record-breaking, all-time low, realistically the only way to go was up. While this is not exactly the highest result we’ve seen this year (in fact it’s only a tiny bit above “The Ghost Monument”), it was still more on the positive side of scoring.
• This leaves “Demons of the Punjab” as the 98^th highest rated episode of the revival (according to the DWTV ranking polls taken from earlier in 2018). More specifically, it is situated between “Hide” (6.87) and “The Ghost Monument” (6.84).
• The standard deviation – which is our measure for how divisive an episode is – was 2.76. Unfortunately it’s yet another highly polarising outing for Series 11, and in fact the new most divisive of the series.
• All in all, it’s not the worst result, but aside from its divisiveness (a factor in every episode this year), it’s not exactly remarkable either. The series seems to be lacking “great” stories so far (8+), perhaps the next episodes can deliver?

Due to the almost identical performance of “Demons” and “The Ghost Monument”, the series average has only marginally increased to 6.68.
