“Legend of the Sea Devils”: Score Breakdown
As always, we asked you to rate the episode on a scale from 1 to 10. We then took an average.
- A few thousand of you voted, and the average score was 4.25. According to the Doctor Who TV score guide, this indicates the episode was generally considered to be in the “below average” range.
- A score this low means “Legend of the Sea Devils” is now the second lowest-rated episode of the whole revival (according to the DWTV ranking polls taken in 2018). More specifically, it is situated between “Fear Her” (3.87) and “The Vanquishers” (4.56).
- This is the fourth episode of the Chibnall era to have a modal score of 1/10, following “Orphan 55”, “The Timeless Children” and “The Vanquishers”.
- This is the third episode of the Chibnall era to go straight to the bottom 5. In total, episodes from the Chibnall era occupy half of the bottom 20 spots.
- The standard deviation – which is our measure of how divisive an episode is – was 2.55 making it the 21st most divisive episode of the Chibnall era. While still an undesirable score, the episode was less divisive than we have seen in a while.
- Overall: And just when you thought things couldn’t get worse, somehow the Chibnall era finds a way to sink to new depths. There’s no dressing it up, this is obviously yet another very poor result. What else can be said?

The Series 13 episode ranking looks like this:

If we include the specials into the Series 13 rankings, the series average would now be 6.07 (down from 6.30 without any specials). Whether you choose to include the specials or not, Series 13 is still the lowest rated of the whole revival.
Conclusion
